equinox: The tension radiating off of Lark's hunched shoulders, her fingers drawing the jacket closer to her torso; these signs were not lost on Revan. The prince was too aware of her fear of him, it was a fact that he had accepted of nearly everyone. In this wretched capital of diamondglass hiding secrets and exquisite luxury masking the true poverty of Norta, there were three types of people. One feared and hated him, and the second craved his attention, his praise. In a way, the kind Skin Healer, did fall into the second category. She seemed to not have noticed his brief glance, too awkwardly fixated on the ground. The third; those who needed him, except not quite in the way one would presume. No one needed him in a manner of cherishing them, or of love. No, they needed his influence, his ability to hurt their enemies, or the wealth with which he was born. He was almost certain that Lark belonged in more than one category. Revan set the teacup aside after draining half, his hands clasped together over the olive blanket draped over his lower torso. His dishevelled appearance, one that indicated his prior state of slumber, visibly opposed the cruel expression on his face. "I'm sure she can deliver tea on her own." He responded rigidly, and his shoulders relaxed at the reveal of her true intentions. I'm right. It was less satisfying than he had thought, in this case. "I see. There's nothing else you want? Perhaps," He paused, tipping his head as if in thought, when it truly was mockery disguised, "A new vanity crafted in gold? Or a dress made of diamondglass?" His voice lowered to the point of a quiet slur of words, even though he suspected truthfully that Lark was not the type to fantasise about materialistic things. "The interrogation was postponed, from what I've heard. An attack on the threshold for those suspected of treason and such, probably by rebels." He informed Lark at last, preparing to dismiss Lark, and save Kalin from this miserable excuse of a situation. "Sorry?" He echoed, surprise registering in his vibrant depths. It faded quickly, his lips pursed with hesitation. "There's no need to apologise for anything. I understand that people act on their own desires; you're just more honest about it." Revan was careful to not let any other information slip to Kalin, only that he had not forgiven the Newblood for her on-and-off antics.

SAVING FROSTEH'S POST JUST CAUSE ;D)) His body was stiff, as if he had been doused in frigid sea water. Mistrust had cracked bone after bone in his body, draining him of the sincerity children would bear in their joy. Do you trust yourself? Her question reverberated in his skull, colliding with his other chaotic thoughts. Dismay pierced his heart, unable to shake off her kindness for a heartbeat. What do you want from me? It was all fun and games, until she wanted to be near him. He had been delusional when the idea of forming a friendship with her had fleeted across his mind. Revan angled his head away from the girl, averting his gaze almost regrettably. The raw hurt in her voice was unmistakable. Was that too harsh...? The envelopment of warmth cut him off abruptly. Visibly surprised, the prince tensed under Lark's touch. A human touch that was neither malevolent or seductive for the other person's benefit. Despite himself, Revan's cheeks paled, the silver sanguine rushing under the layer of delicate skin. "L-Lark." The teasing nickname he used to address her broke away as he mumbled incoherently. Vulnerability edged his tone, and he wasn't sure if it was outrage or pure surprise that had overwhelmed him. What's happening? What's happening? His thought process ceased to exist for several heartbeats, his frame rigid as shackled arms encircled his torso. When the Red pulled away, the Silver was glad that she didn't risk glancing back at him. Agitated and uncomfortable, he only stared at her retreating form with widened eyes and a visible blush. Her soothing words had barely registered in his brain. He had never received any affection from his mother, only false alternatives of it. And the provocative Silvers who threw themselves on his lap? He had been awkward at first, but gradually learned to return their teasing words with his own. The subtly flirtatious comments he slipped in his conversations with the Red were only for amusement, to be honest. He wasn't quite infatuated with Lark due to that sudden, innocently executed move of hers; but he was admittedly caught off guard. As soon as the songbird left the room, the prince dove under his covers, burying his flushed face deep into the imprint of his pillow. (*muffled screams* xD ) // Kalin hurried after Lark as the Red strode out of the prince's room, curiosity brimming from her gaze. "Ms. Byrne! I hope your conversation went well," She cast a knowing, supportive smile in the Queenstrial candidate's direction, struggling to keep pace with her. "I'll talk to you later, though. I haven't finished a lesson with my mentor." She finished sheepishly, then veered off into a different direction to hurry to her abandoned post in the Skin Healer apprentices' classroom. // The Queen had taken a slow, careful sip of her nearly finished tea, the aroma of the jasmine wafting around the vast room. "Yes, that was predictable of her-" The Queen cut herself off at the Guard's additional comment about her son. Spluttering, the lukewarm tea went down the wrong passage, and the Shiver coughed into her handkerchief. "Revan?" She demanded, echoing the prince's name, as if she had heard incorrectly. "What bribery did she use this time? My son would not fall for that lowly Red's tactics." Fury glazed over her expression, jaw tightening at the thought. "If this is true," She articulated slowly, composing herself within a matter of seconds, "I would like to see if Revan is only cooperating with her for a certain reason. If it is treacherous, secure the area and immediately bring the Red into the dungeons for further interrogation. If not, and he truly has acted as a traitor of his accord, I will speak to him myself. For now, follow their every movement following the Queenstrial. She better not still be here after it, though." The Queen narrowed her cobalt optics, anger directed towards the china cup that held her tea. The liquid instantly froze over, the brambles of ice seeping gradually over the tableware. I will end you, little liar.
